Surveying the Twelve Mile Circle
Historic Rittenhouse Town
208 Lincoln Drive, Philadelphia, PA 19144
Saturday, September 9, 2023
10 am – 4 pm

As the Colonial Surveyor, I will be portraying David Rittenhouse as a surveyor.  This will be an opportunity for volunteer survey crews (who I hope to recruit from the crowds) to learn the art and science of surveying using 18th Century tools and methods. We will be discussing the survey of the Maryland // Pennsylvania border.  The park structures will be open for tours and there are likely to be multiple other activities as well. This is a truly beautiful park.

Seats are limited so please register at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/survey-day-tickets-698339190317?aff=oddtdtcreator

My goal is to bring history alive through interactive portrayal of ordinary American life in the late 18th Century (1750—1799) My persona are: Journeyman Brewer; Cordwainer (leather tradesman but not cobbler), Statesman and Orator; Chandler (candle and soap maker); Gentleman Scientist; and, Soldier in either the British Regular Army, the Centennial Army, or one of the various Militia. Let me help you experience history 1st hand!
