Last weekend, I ran a brewing demo at a very busy event, and I am proud to have shared my expertise and products with a lot of truly great people.  This blog post is NOT about them.

By and large, I respect people’s political opinions.  I disagree with a shockingly large percentage of you, but I do respect your opinions and your vote.  Your right to free speech, however, does not supersede mine or anyone else’s.  Furthermore, NO ONE has the right to harass or threaten others.  Sadly, there are those who believe that they can intimidate others into accepting their bizarre version of reality, their political opinions, their religion, or any number truly wacko policies of one particular candidate.

Well, doing this in the presence of the Regimental Brewmeister is a bridge too far.  Not only will I not tolerate it when it’s focused on me and I will not tolerate it when it is focused on others who have come to my events to learn a little history, enjoy a beer or two or just share the ambiance of our 18th Century encampments.  If you think you can bully me, think again.

So, it is the policy of the Regimental Brewmeister to welcome, protect, and defend guests of all social, economic, and religious persuasions.  We accept people of all genders and gender identities. We welcome people from all ethnicities and national origins.  Veterans are particularly welcome (even squids😊).  Basically, we have a big tent and are willing to accept almost anyone.  Some groups, however, are strongly advised to stay away – bigots, political operatives[1], bullies, and traitors.  I actively support both the 1st and 2nd Amendments.  Don’t test me.

So,

  • Trump operatives are not welcome at the encampment of the Regimental Brewmeister and will not be served by the Admiral of the Blue Apron.
  • People who are disrespectful to ANY guest of the Regimental Brewmeister or the Admiral of the Blue Apron risk my full wrath.
  • My space at all events is intended to be a “safe space” for those who just want to learn history and maybe drink a few beers. I will tolerate no violation of that “safe space.”
  • Most of you know the happy go lucky version of the Regimental Brewmeister. Don’t cross me, “Cpt Mike” is not so nice.

[1] I consider it an ideal of patriotism to vote, even if your vote is for a bad candidate.  If you support the wrong party, that is your business.  Operatives are those who wish to shame others into joining their cause.  If you promise to not bring your political paraphernalia, hate speech, or campaigning to my tent and I promise to not hit you with my sword.  Alternatively, the converse is fair.
