I need your help with the Moland House. This will be my second year planning the annual reenactment at Moland House. Last year, I took reins of organizing the event after Jo-Anne Mullen has decided to step down from organizing the event. We’ve had some growing pains trying to live up to the 15 years of tireless effort and superb leadership, Jo Anne put into this event but we are making sure this event continues uninterrupted. Every year, since 2012, the Warwick Township Historical Society has hosted reenactment and encampment in August that that includes military reenactors as well as artisans and entertainers. This annual reenactment is a critical fundraiser for the Warwick Historical Society who maintains the site andI would truly appreciate everyone helping me make this year at least as good as it has been for the last 16 years.
The Warwick Township Historical Society has worked long and hard to save the Moland House from ruin. This site was part of a 13-day encampment by 11,000 troops of the Continental Army and where the Marquis de Lafayette first assumed his duties as a Major General, and Washington met Count Casimir Pulaski for the first time. It is a wonderfully restored house and grounds and a true treasure worthy of our support.

On July 31st, 1777, the Continental Army was marching from New Jersey to Philadelphia and General Greene ordered that the army camp at the “Falls of the Schuylkill.” On Sunday, the 10th of August, word was received that a large British fleet had been sighted in the Delaware Bay. The Army stayed at Moland until 3:00 am on Saturday, August 23rd. During that stay, the Marquis de Lafayette came to join Washington’s army and the Continental Cavalry was created under the command of Count Casimir Pulaski.
Sadly, the staff at Warwick is slowly aging out and we need to infuse new people into the event. They are still willing to share their experience and expertise but we need to take up the nuts and bolts of organizing and physically getting the job done. To be blunt, I need volunteers. Please contact me ASAP if you can support us as a donor, an artisan, or a military unit. If you know someone who can do a credible impression of Lafayette, please let me know.
I have created an online sign-up page for those of you who are willing to step into a role. I will take all volunteers. If you can commit a couple of hours, that’s great. If you can stay all day that is fantastic. If you can come in Colonial attire, that is wonderful (I have some loaners), if you prefer 21st century attire, that’s okay too.
