Okay, this is not my article but I am ready to start taking back our national symbols. For the last four years our flags, our monuments, and our patriotic expression have been taken over by the far Right Wing. Now lets let them know that WE THE PEOPLE — ALL the people of this nation — can use these symbols for their intended purpose, not some coded white supremacist purpose. When I salute the flag, I am doing for all the men and women who served our country and its truest ideals.
To the Trumpers, THESE ARE NOT YOUR SYMBOLS, they are for AMERICANS!

Michael, I agree completely. During the run-up to the election I often found myself driving in rural Minnesota. Over and over I would see Trump signs with American flags. Finally, towards the end I started seeing Biden signs with American flags. It is time the center made it clear that symbols of American patriotism are not synonymous with any party, left or right.

Ah yes. I does not matter WHICH PARTY is usurping our national symbols, they belong to ALL Americans not just those who espouse specific beliefs.
