CFHS September 11th Battle at Chadds Ford

The Chadds Ford Historical Society will be hosting a battle reenactment and encampment on September 11th, 2020 to commermorate the 1777 British invasion and subsequent engagement with George Washington’s troops at Chadds’ Ford and Brandywine. There will be military skirmishes between 1st Delaware and 2nd Pennsylvania regiments of the Continental Army and His Magisty’s 43rd Regiment of Foot as well as many demonstrators and lectures by noted historians.
Yours truly will be there having doffed my red coat in favor of the blue flag and apron of a publican saving the King’s Army from the horrible diseases they might contract should they drink water from Brandywine Creek. We will brew beer, play tavern games. make toasts to the health of our respective generals and enjoy the great food and drink from the event. Reenactors in kit (irrespective of loyalty to the Crown) will be offered samples of 18th Century beer so bring your tankard.
This one-day festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021, on the grounds of the Historical Society at 1736 N. Creek Road, Chadds Ford, PA 19317.
