Okay, I don’t give away bottles but you may have noticed that every bottle and every keg have a QR code on it and its not a SKU because I am not selling beer outside of events and I am not that sophisticated in my inventory management. So, what are these?
Well, brewing beer is, frankly, really easy and distinguish you in any way. While what I do is much more complex than commercial brewing, it’s pretty straightforward and easy. What distinguishes great beers from beers like Budweiser is the recipe and what distinguishes great reenactors from all the gun ho gun toting ruffians is the stories we tell. That’s what lies under the QR code on every bottle of beer the Brewmeister creates.
When you scan these codes, they return a URL for a page on my website for that beer. On that page you will find the recipe (often scaled to 5-gallon homebrewing batches) and a brief story about the name of this beer. Each beer tells a story of a significant event during or immediately preceding the American Revolution. This gives the beers more than just a cool flavor that you can enjoy but a real connection with the history that inspired the brew.
Next time you are at an event, take the time to scan your favorite beer and see what lies beneath the label.
