I am looking for 10 solid tavern goers who are interested in an immersion weekend and willing to travel to Albany, NY.

On August 8, the Admiral of the Blue Apron will be hosting an immersion weekend on 18th Century beverages and tavern culture.  The program will include a full tavern in a fully restored 18th Century tavern (we get the whole thing) as well as 18th Century brewing and cocktail classes.  As part of my compensation for this event, I am allowed 10 “guests” who will be given full access to yet another fully restored 18th Century tavern (all physical gear and sleeping accommodations are included – you bring your own food, etc.), admission to the tavern night (you only need to pay for your drinks, and I will give you 2 ea.) and your travel.  Your “job” is to arrive in period attire and be the ambiance.  This opportunity has been offered to the leadership of the 1NJV and 43rd Rgmt of Ft but I have not heard back from them.  I am now opening the opportunity to anyone who reads this blog.

The site is Eastfield Historic Village in Nassau NY (about halfway between Albany, NY and Pittsfield, MA (both wonderful destinations for the historically inclined tourist).   You can arrive at any time Saturday (8/8) or even Friday if you are zealous and the tavern program starts at 6pm.  We have approval to stay through to Monday morning if you are willing.  This is a truly unique site, imagine getting the run of a whole 18th century town for the weekend.  They have 30 buildings and the site is definitely not “touristy.”  It is a great workshop for living history.

The tavern night will be the traditional tavern run by the Admiral of the Blue Apron.  We will have tavern games, toasting, a cappella singing, and general jollification plus, of course, beer, cocktails, and other 18th C libations by the Regimental Brewmeister.  The site is supplying non-alcoholic drinks and a “groaning board” for your evening repast.  On Sunday, the Regimental Brewmeister will be offering an 18th Century brewing class as well as a class on 18th Century cocktails.

Anyone interested in joining this program as a reenactor, should contact the Regimental Brewmeister at colonialbrewer@gmail.com as soon as possible.  You must remain in 18th C attire and persona for the weekend as it will be an immersion event and should plan to bring your own bedding (although all furnishings will be provided).  I will take the first 10 applications on a first come first accepted basis.
